How Much Charcoal Does a Spit Roaster Needs?

As a general rule, 1kg of charcoal is required for every charcoal of meat. This will depend on the weather conditions, such as which way the wind is blowing, as well as the thickness of your meat. For example, if you’re cooking gyros, the cooking time will vary greatly depending on whether your gyros are thick and fat or long and thin.

Splash some olive oil over the pig and rub it in. The most important thing is to ensure that you cover everything. Once the outside of the pig has been coated in oil, rub in some salt liberally on both the inside and outside of the pig.

How to Cook Gyros on a Spit Roaster

We’re finding that more customers are cooking gyros on their BBQ spits to cater for their parties because it’s such an easy way to cook and allows you to shave bits of meat from the outside while continuing to cook the inside. Unlike when cooking a whole chicken or roast and removing the meat from the skewer before carving, gyros is designed to be shaved throughout the cooking process while still on the skewer and then allowed to continue to cook through.
