How to Make Gyros on a Jumbuck Mini Spit!

Delicious Greek Gyros

You have a jumbuck spit from Bunnings, and you want to prepare a delicious meal to impress your family and friends. We can hear you! We will demonstrate how to create make Greek gyros using this easy recipe! Let’s get right to it.

Charcoal being lit using Charcoal starter wand

Light the fire!

Mallee Root Lump charcoal is great. We believe it to be the best product on the market because it is all-natural (no chemicals). It has amazing flavour and a great amount of fire!

We lit our charcoal using the Flaming Coals Charcoal Starter Wand, which allows us to start cooking more quickly. Within 2-5 minutes you’ll be ready to go!

Chicken Thighs

Prep the chicken:

  1. We only use chicken thighs for gyros (we got ours from Woolies). Remove as much of the membrane and fat as you want with a sharp knife. To create the arrangement you like, trim into neat pieces.
Seasoned the chicken thigh

2. Use the Flaming Coals Greek Gyro rub to season the thighs. It’s quite magical on a gyro, it was developed over many years by a greek family.

Greek-gyros-Seasoning

Don’t use too much seasoning; just enough to cover the chicken thighs on both sides! Pat the seasoning into the thighs before placing them on the spit.

Prepare your skewer:

First, put a gyro disc on the skewer, then start stacking your thighs on top of one another. Whatever method you choose, as long as it is applied uniformly, it really doesn’t matter. Firmly press down on the gyro!

Put the gyros on the skewer

To make sure the plates are secure, put down the other gyro disc on top!

The gyro discs offer a great cutting surface for you. This enables you to carve without running into the meat prongs, thus getting a set is highly advised!

Chicken gyros. Served

Cook:

Spin your gyro until the selected meat reaches the proper internal temperature.

Carve away and enjoy!
